Hotels In Ulaanbaatar

Nowadays there are many hotels in Ulaanbaatar, some better than others. Our choice for accommodation in Ulaanbaatar is the Continental Hotel
Outside The Continental Hotel
. It has been enjoyed by all our past clients because it is only a few minutes walk from the center of Ulaanbaatar and most of the good bars and restaurants are within walking distance. This is one of the newest hotels in Ulaanbaatar and it has good facilities
Continental Hotel Facilities
including a fine restaurant, bar , cashmere shop, gym, sauna, business center and a modest swimming pool.

Ger Camps

Outside Ulaanbaatar accommodation for tourists is at traditional ger camps which are set up in places that are particularly important, beautiful or much visited. These ger camps
Ger Camp
are so much more authentic and thrilling than hotels in Mongolia. The gers are furnished in traditional style and have a wood-burning stove in the center for colder evenings. There is a hole in the roof for the chimney and you can see the amazing Mongolian night sky as you lie in comfort.

Camping

Mongolia is an absolutely ideal country for camping holidays. Indeed, many of our hiking, horse riding, mountain biking and motorcycling tours in Mongolia are in such remote places that Force Ten Baltora Extreme Expedition Tent ©OTMTthere isn't any other option. During the summer tourist season in Mongolia from June through to September, the weather is at its best, but weather conditions in Mongolia are unreliable and we have chosen the high performance Force 10 Baltoro and the Vango Storm 300
Vango Storm 300 Three Man 4 Season Tent
which can withstand summer snowstorms up in the high mountains of Mongolia, fierce wind and rain. They have an entrance at both ends to allow air through on very hot days, and mosquito netting to protect from insects.

Food & Drink

These days there are plenty of excellent restaurants in Ulaanbaatar serving all kinds of international dishes. When you are traveling in Mongolia out in the countryside and stay at ger camps, there will be a restaurant where standard meals are served. If you are on one of our camping tours in Mongolia you may eat in the dining tent
Dinning Tent & Mess Tent
and a professional cook will serve three substantial meals each day throughout your tour in Mongolia. The food may be Mongolian, European or Asian and they can cater for vegetarians if warned in advance.

Toilet and Washing Facilities

Do not be anxious about the toilet and washing facilities whilst traveling in Mongolia. At ger camps there are Western-style latrines and showers, usually with hot water served by solar power. On camping holidays in Mongolia we set up a protective and private windshield or tent with a pit latrine which is ecologically friendly. Our campsites on remote tours in Mongolia are often next to a river or lake and on hot days you can enjoy swimming. Sorry, no hot showers in this part of the world ! We are members of Responsible Travel and you can read our Responsible Travel policy here.

Emergency Rescue

Adventure tours in Mongolia, especially mountain biking, horse riding and motorcycling holidays, all carry an element of risk and many of our tours in Mongolia are literally "off the map" as we go to some of the most remote parts of the country. Emergency rescue by Mi-8 Helicopter
Mi-8 Helicopter
will be arranged with a local aviation company. They are on standby 24 hours a day and would be called from our sat phone and provided with our GPS reference in order to mobilize the rescue team.

Support Vehicles

All our vehicles are new or nearly new. They belong to us, are maintained by us and are driven by our own company drivers. We do not hire vehicles and we do not use drivers who we do not know. For overland expeditions in Mongolia and for groups of up to 28 people we have a new Kamaz 6 x 6 expedition bus. This has been the Dakar Rally winner in the truck section seven times and was designed for Arctic conditions.

6X6 Kamaz Expedition Truck & 4X4 UAZ MPV vehicles

Most of our support vehicles for trips in Mongolia are Russian UAZ Forgons which are excellent 4 x 4 people carriers.
