This exciting 11-day tour is a overland adventure, starting from Ulaanbaatar and travelling down through the Middle Gobi steppe to the real desert of South Gobi province. There are many amazing sights along the way, including fantastic granite mountains, strange rock formations, massive sand dunes and hot springs. On the return we spend time at Erdene Zuu Buddhist monastery in the valley of Kharkhorin where Chinggis Khaan established the capital of the Mongol Empire.

We travel by jeep on rough tracks, rarely on good paved roads. In the countryside nomadic people live in gers, following a way of life which has changed little in centuries.

	26 May	Arrive Ulaanbaatar.
	27 May	Jeep to Bag Gazriin Chuluu, a remarkable granite rock formation situated in the central steppe.
	28 May	Jeep to Ulaan Suvraga, a "painted desert" created by erosion of the landscape.
	29 May	Jeep to South Gobi. Overnight ger camp in the vast open desert.
	30 May	Visit Gurvansaikhan National Park up in the mountains and walk in the "Eagle's Mouth" canyon.
	31 May	Jeep to Bayanzag "Flaming Cliffs" where many dinosaur remains have been found, then on to Khongoriin Els.
	01 June	Jeep northwards beyond the big golden sand dunes and the end of the Altai mountain range.
	02 June	Jeep to Khujirt, a small town with a health resort with hot and cold mineral baths.
	03 June	Jeep to Kharkhorin, the valley which was once the capital of the great Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene Zuu monastery.
	04 June	Jeep to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight hotel.
	05 June	Depart.
