Arkhangai
Province In Central Mongolia (Horse Riding)
Many
people who have never visited Mongolia have
a picture in their mind of horsemen galloping
across the open steppe - just as they did in
the days of Chinggis Khaan. This image is not
far from the truth in present day Mongolia.
Outside the cities most families keep horses,
and for many it is their only form of transport.
Anywhere you travel in Mongolia it is possible
to borrow riding horses, and this is probably
the best way to see this vast wild country.
Travelling
from Ulaanbaatar to Arkhangai province in
Central Mongolia you can stop at places of
particular beauty and interest, and take horses
for the day to explore the area.
This
tour can be adapted to suit your own horse
riding skills. You can ride for just a few
hours, or gallop across the fenceless expanse
for the whole day if you prefer.
