Khovsgol
is without doubt one of the most beautiful and
accessible parts of Mongolia. Water from Lake
Khovsgol is so pure that you can drink it. The
shores are surrounded by forests and flower filled meadows, and along the western side lie
the dramatic Khoridol Saridag mountains.
This five day trek along the lake shore and
up onto the mountain ridges offers magnificent views and great hiking. There may be opportunities
to meet local nomadic people and observe their
ancient lifestyle.
The daily walking distance is 10-20 km, with
some fairly steep up and downhill sections.
The trek is suitable for anyone who takes regular
exercise. The luggage is carried by pack horses
and the local staff will cook and set up camp
each night during the trek.
