Tailor Made Itinerary - 5

Buddhism, Wild Horses & the Nomadic Lifestyle

  • The culture of Mongolia

Mongolia's ancient traditions have largely remained intact despite centuries of domination by China and Russia. Their nomadic lifestyle has changed little since the days of Genghis Khaan, and the Tibetan form of Buddhism is being revived following the Communist purges of the last century.

    Visit Erdene Zuu monastery

The original centre of Buddhism in Mongolia was built on the ruins of Genghis Khaan’s capital in Kharkhorin. The journey offers the chance to see all types of scenery – mountain, desert and steppe, and also go to the natural reserve where wild "Takhi" horses are kept in their natural habitat.
